Port of Tauranga (Mt Maunganui) 10–12 hours alongside New Zealand

Tauranga is the busiest cruise port in New Zealand and the natural gateway to Rotorua. Ships berth at Mt Maunganui, with a regular shuttle into the surf town at the base of Mauao. Inland, Rotorua delivers geothermal landscapes and authentic Māori cultural experiences.

Good to know

  • —Rotorua is 1 hour inland — confirm coach pickup is at the wharf, not Mt Maunganui town.
  • —Mt Maunganui summit walk is steep in places; sturdy footwear required.
  • —Sulphur smell in Rotorua is part of the experience — not a fault of the tour.
