Barossa Valley
Experience · South Australia, Australia
Australia's most famous wine region, an hour north of Adelaide. Shiraz from old, dry-grown vines is the calling card — Henschke's Hill of Grace and Penfolds Grange were both born here. The Barossa is also one of the better food regions in the country.
Wineries
Henschke, Penfolds, Yalumba, Seppeltsfield (the Centennial Cellar — taste a wine from your birth year), and Rockford for the old-school. Hentley Farm and Murray Street Vineyards for the dining.
Where to stay
The Louise (Baillie Lodges) is the standout — 15 suites and Appellation restaurant. Kingsford Homestead is the heritage alternative.
