Ningaloo Reef

260km of fringing reef on WA's mid-north coast — swim with whale sharks (March–August), manta rays year-round, and humpbacks (July–November). Far quieter than the Great Barrier Reef, and you can snorkel straight off the beach.
What to do
Whale shark swim with Three Islands or Live Ningaloo. Snorkel from Turquoise Bay (drift snorkel). Stay overnight at Sal Salis for swag-tent reef-side glamping.
Getting there
Fly Perth → Learmonth (LEA), then 40 minutes to Exmouth or 90 minutes to Coral Bay.
