Castaway Island Resort
Resort · Mamanuca Islands, Fiji
Castaway Island Resort sits on its own 174-acre island in the Mamanucas, a 50-minute boat or short helicopter transfer from Nadi. It's the family-friendly classic of Fijian island resorts — thatched bures only (no high-rise), four beaches, and a reef wrapping the entire island.
Why stay
Genuinely no-shoes, no-news. Free kids' club, free snorkelling gear, and reef you can walk into from your bure. The food is better than it needs to be and the staff turnover is famously low — most have been there for decades.
Rooms
All 66 rooms are stand-alone bures (no interconnecting walls). Beachfront bures are worth the upgrade; the new Premium Beachfront bures sit right on the sand on the quieter side of the island.
Getting there
Boat transfer from Port Denarau (about 50 minutes) or 15-minute helicopter from Nadi. Most guests fly Nadi → boat the same day.
